Test procedures for iron ore desulfurization

There are many kinds of minerals embedded in high pyrite, with complex properties and particularly small particle size, which leads to poor monomer dissociation of useful minerals and creates a great barrier to the desulfurization effect of minerals. In order to break this barrier, we need to achieve desulfurization and recovery of iron minerals under fine grinding conditions.

The iron ore desulfurization test steps are as follows:

1. Determination of grinding fineness

a. Grinding fineness test: with the increase of grinding fineness, the grade of iron concentrate is gradually improved, and the sulfur content in iron concentrate is also gradually increased. When the grinding fineness reaches 95%, the iron concentrate grade is 62.01%. Its sulfur content is 3.42%. Therefore, it is difficult to obtain qualified iron concentrate with a single magnetic separation process.

b. Flotation fineness test: we found that with the increase of grinding fineness, the grade of sulfur concentrate gradually increased. When the grinding fineness is>75%, too many fine particles affect the sulfur flotation, resulting in a decrease in the sulfur recovery. When the grinding fineness is 60%, the sulfur concentrate grade is 29.88%, and the recovery rate is 83.18%; The iron grade of flotation tailings is 29.18%, and the sulfur content is 1.18%, so the index is more suitable.

2. Determine iron ore desulfurization process

a. Flotation magnetic separation process test: under this process, the sulfur concentrate grade can reach 29.12%, the iron concentrate grade can be increased to 62.05%, and the sulfur content can be reduced to 0.83%, but the qualified iron concentrate has not been obtained.

b. Flotation grinding magnetic separation test: in order to reduce the sulfur content of the concentrate, the flotation is strengthened under the condition that the grinding accuracy of the first stage is 60%, sodium carbonate is added and the ph value is increased. The flotation tailings are screened with a 1mm fine screen, the materials on the screen are reground, and the materials under the screen are magnetic separated. In this case, the addition of sodium carbonate can improve the collection capacity of xanthate for sulfide ores. After flotation desulfurization, the tailings are fine screened and reground. After a period of magnetic separation, qualified iron concentrate with a grade of 65.42%, a sulfur content of 0.285 and a recovery of 68.31% can be obtained.

After many tests, we found that the combined magnetic flotation method using flotation flotation tailing grinding magnetic separation process may be more suitable for treating high pyrite ores, thus greatly improving the flotation index. Of course, we are just enumerating. If you have similar iron ores and need desulfurization treatment, you can contact Xinhai.
