Beneficiation process of ilmenite - combined beneficiation method

For ilmenite beneficiation, the combination of multiple methods is often better than a single beneficiation method, which can better improve the ore grade and recovery. At present, there are four combined separation methods for ilmenite, namely magnetic separation+flotation, gravity separation+flotation, magnetic separation+gravity separation, gravity separation - magnetic separation - flotation - electric separation, etc.

1. Magnetic separation+flotation combined method

In the beneficiation of ilmenite, the recovery of fine particles has always been a difficult problem. In mineral processing, the flotation method can only achieve the recovery of ilmenite smaller than 0.02mm to a certain extent, but there will be a lot of quartz and other gangue in the concentrate powder after flotation, which seriously affects the quality of flotation. Therefore, before flotation, the ore can be magnetic separated. After the combination of the two, the grade and total recovery of the produced concentrate will be greatly improved compared with the single magnetic separation or flotation.

2. Combined gravity concentration+flotation method

The gravity flotation process is used to recover ilmenite, which has a good cleaning effect for ilmenite with a grade below 6%. After gravity separation, the grade of ilmenite cleaned by this method can be directly raised to more than 30%. After flotation desulfurization and other processes, the final grade of titanium concentrate can reach 47%, the recovery rate is close to 30%, and the sulfur concentrate with a grade of 40% can also be produced. It is easy to see from these data that this method can better improve the utilization of resources.

3. Magnetic separation+gravity separation combined method

For titanium titanium ore, although single gravity separation or magnetic separation can complete the cleaning task, the combined magnetic gravity process is undoubtedly better, and can reduce production costs and increase benefits. With this method, the concentrate grade can reach 50% and the recovery rate can reach 80%.

4. Combined gravity separation magnetic separation flotation electric separation method

If the gangue in the raw ore is mainly composed of titanopyroxene and plagioclase, and contains sulfide minerals, it can be gravity selected first, the plagioclase can be removed, and then the flotation method is used for desulfurization, and finally the electric separation is used to remove the titanopyroxene. Through this combination scheme, the ore grade and utilization rate can be better improved, and this method is also effective for ilmenite with lower grade.
