Overview of Tanzania Graphite Mineral Processing Project

Tanzania is located in East Africa and has abundant mineral resources, one of which is graphite ore. With the rapid development of the new energy industry and the increasing global demand for graphite, the development of graphite mines in Tanzania has received unprecedented attention. The graphite mine project undertaken by Xinhai Mining Equipment is located in the northern region of Tanzania, where graphite resources are abundant. The main types of ore are graphite schist and graphite granulite, with graphite minerals mainly consisting of large scale crystalline graphite. Let's take a look at the process flow and project results of this project together.

Characteristics of Graphite Ore in Tanzania

Graphite ore from Tanzania has the following characteristics:

Graphite content: The graphite content in the ore is relatively high, with an average fixed carbon content between 5% and 15%.

Mineral composition: In addition to graphite, the ore also contains a certain amount of vein minerals such as quartz and feldspar.

Selectivity: The separation between graphite minerals and gangue minerals is good, making it suitable for beneficiation using flotation technology.

Tanzania graphite ore beneficiation process flow

Considering the characteristics of the ore and market demand, the following beneficiation process has been adopted for this project:

Crushing: Adopting a two-stage closed-loop crushing process to ensure that the particle size of the ore meets the grinding requirements.

Grinding and grading: a closed-loop grinding and grading process to improve grinding efficiency and reduce energy consumption.

Flotation: Adopting a flotation process of one coarse, two sweep, and ten precision to improve the grade and recovery rate of graphite concentrate.

Through detailed experiments on the ore samples, we found that:

Grinding: After eight stages of grinding, the raw ore can achieve a good degree of dissociation.

Flotation: After one coarse selection, two sweeping selections, and ten fine selections, a graphite concentrate with a yield of 16%, a fixed carbon content of 93%, and a recovery rate of 90% can be obtained.

Screening stage

In order to further improve the quality of graphite concentrate, we conducted wet screening on the graphite concentrate:

+140 mesh concentrate: The concentrate yield is 4%, and the fixed carbon content is 96%.

-140 mesh concentrate: The concentrate yield is 12%, and the fixed carbon content is 92%.

Results of Tanzania graphite ore beneficiation project

The process flow design of this project is reasonable, the flotation reagent system is simple and effective, and the mineral processing indicators have reached the industry's advanced level. In the end, the recovery rate of graphite concentrate reached 92%, with an expected annual revenue of 50 million US dollars. The successful implementation of the project not only improved the mining efficiency of graphite mines in Tanzania, but also contributed to the local economic development.

Distribution of Graphite Mineral Resources in Tanzania

The graphite mineral resources in Tanzania are mainly distributed in the northern and western regions, with the northern region being particularly rich in resources. The characteristics of graphite minerals in these areas are mostly sedimentary metamorphic rocks, with flake like crystalline graphite as the main graphite mineral, which has high industrial value. The development of graphite mines in Tanzania has enormous potential, and in the future, with the deepening of development and the continuous overlap of market demand, it will inevitably shine brightly.
