The gravity separation process of barite needs to go through five parts, namely crushing, screening, buffering, gravity separation and dehydration. In this paper, we will introduce the process flow of barite gravity separation for you in detail.

Five operation processes of barite gravity separation

1. Crushing process

Because barite is brittle and fragile, jaw crusher is mainly used for crushing barite. In order to make the crushed barite meet the particle size range required for entering the jig gravity separator, two-stage crushing is generally adopted. Barite raw ore enters jaw crusher through feeder for primary crushing. The crushed products are transported to the two-stage jaw crusher by belt conveyor for fine crushing.

2. Screening process

The jig is generally used for barite gravity separation. Because of its strict requirements on the particle size of incoming materials, it requires classification to improve the processing capacity and beneficiation index, so the screening operation of crushed products is carried out before barite gravity separation. The screened products enter the jigger for gravity separation. In screening, the concentrator can use circular vibrating screen. This equipment has the advantages of easy operation, high efficiency and large processing capacity, and is an ideal equipment for barite screening.

Screening process

3. Buffering process

In order to ensure the normal operation of the jig, the ore feeding shall be uniform and stable. Therefore, it is necessary to set the buffer part before the screened product enters the jig. The concentrator can choose a silo or a vibrating feeder. When using the buffer silo, ensure that some materials are pre stored in the silo, to avoid the situation that the feeding amount changes from large to small at the beginning of work. The vibrating feeder can ensure that the materials can enter the jig evenly and stably for gravity separation.

4. Re selection process

The use of jigs for barite separation mainly depends on the specific gravity difference between barite and other associated gangue minerals. Barite enters the jigger through the silo or vibrating feeder, and density stratification is carried out under the action of alternating water flow generated by equipment agitation water flow. As the barite has a large proportion and a fast settling speed, it will enter the lower layer of the separation tank. Small specific gravity of gangue minerals will occupy the upper part of the separation tank. The separated barite and gangue minerals will be discharged from the machine body through the ore discharging device to obtain barite concentrate and tailings.

Re selection process

5. Dehydration process

Because a large amount of water will be used in the process of jigging gravity separation, the barite concentrate obtained has a high moisture content and needs to be dewatered. The concentrator can select different dehydration processes according to the demand, such as mechanical dehydration, dryer dehydration, etc. In order to avoid waste of water resources, the concentrator can also set up a water circulation system as required, which can not only ensure the smooth process flow, but also make full use of resources to avoid waste of resources.
After the above five operation processes, barite gravity separation was completed and barite concentrate was obtained. As the composition and characteristics of different types of barite are different, the suitable process flow is also different. Please formulate according to the results of beneficiation test.
